Our Club

• Hockey

  Established in 1937, now with well over 600 people engaging with hockey, Taunton Vale HC is one of the largest Hockey Clubs in the South West of England, and within the top 20 largest in the country.  In 2015 the club was nominated for England Hockey Club of the Year and was first runner up in European Hockey Club of the Year 2016.

  We are a family friendly club, which caters for all standards of hockey.  Our youngest members play at Under 8 level, and we still have a few Over 60s who make regular appearances for in league and cup fixtures.  A number of our players also play at county level and for the National age group teams for England and Wales.

  Each weekend we have 5 ladies teams who play in the West Clubs Woman's Hockey League and 6 men's teams who turn out in the Go Crea8 Hockey League.  

  We also enter a number of Cup Competitions, including the Somerset Cup and the England Hockey KO Competitions for Mixed, Men's O40s & O50s and Ladies O35s & O45s.

• Junior Hockey

  We have a thriving junior section, and it's one of the biggest in the West of England. We welcome kids as young as 6 years old to come and pick up a hockey stick, and we offer training for Under 8s, 10s, 12s, 14s, and 16s.

  Our Under 10, 12 and 14s take part in the 7-a-side Somerset Hockey Festivals.  Additionally the U14s and 16s enter the England Hockey 11-a-side league, and we enter our U18s into the England Hockey KO Competition.

  We also have U16 and U18's Boys and Girls indoor teams, who compete in the West Indoor Hockey Competition.

  Junior fixtures (competition/tournament/friendlies) take place on Sundays outside of school holiday times, and are scheduled around the England Hockey central calendar.

• Back to Hockey

  We run one of the largest and most successful Back to Hockey sections in the country.

  Designed for adults who've a new found interest in our sport, or for those returning to hockey having last played on grass or shale pitches, B2H is fun, friendly and sociable, with no pressure of committing to a team every weekend.

  If you have an urge to pick up a hockey stick, but perhaps are not quite ready to dive head first into our league team training sessions, then BACK TO HOCKEY is for you.  It takes place every Tuesday morning at 9.45am (ladies only) and ever Friday evening at 5.30pm (men and women) throughout the hockey season (not including school holidays).

  Most sessions start with some skills, before putting them into a fun mixed game, but you set the pace.
